I know we have a lot of college students round these parts so heres my question. How much money does everyone spend a month while in college. (My meals are going to be pre paid in the dorm cafe.) My parents asked me how much i would need/want i was thinking round 400 a month would work, but if i need more my parents will gladly give it to me. Thanks in advance guys.

 

i have been in college for almost a month and havent spent more then 90 bucks 50 of that was my apr snub mount, i also dont have a car to put gas into yet

 

My budget is 1900 for the first 2 months, and 1400 for the second 2 months. That includes everything though, books, food, gas, clothes, etc. I have spend probably close to 1000 already this semester and I have only been here a 12 days. Books are around 500-600, then it all depends what you do for fun at school, and if you buy a lotta beer

 

You need about 3000/mo, don't you?

 

yeah my books and everything i can charge on my credit card (parents pay the bill) so my money would mainly go towards "entertainment".

 

i got to a community college, i pay $1,100 a semister. Its 20 mins from my house, i live at home for free, and get free food not bad i think. Why go to a $30,000+ a year school when u can save ur money and transfer after a couple of years. I also travel to visit my friends at colleges so i also get the college life without spending the money

 

99a4audi if you could go to any college you want and money was no object, would you still want to go to a community college? That was my situation, and my tuition isn't that expensive, like 8 grand or so, not including housing. The "budget" im trying to figure out doesn't include books, tuition, housing, 3 meals a day, etc. Just spending money for snacks,weekends, beer, etc.

I go to a Cal State school

Books 500 per quarter (4 quarters per year) No buy backs because I am an engineering major and I am just gonna need them again in a month.

Rent 500/ month - Welcome to the land of million dollar homes and living in a shared apartment closer to the campus... BTW I am in the smaller room. (was paying 900)

Food 200 per quarter (I live on oatmeal and noodles to better afford my life style)

Tuition, 1500/ quarter

Fuel, 100 per month

Insurance and car payment about 400 per month.

Income well do the math but actually it is pretty close... I think I make about 1400 a month. Yeah that is what my credit cards are for right?

 

Thast what im trying t decide for next year, I can go to santa Barbara city and live at the UCSB dorms or go to a cal state or ASU etc...

Dan what cal state do u go to? I ask b/c im a senior now and its time to start looking.

 

For entertainment.... I'd say about 100 a weekend.... give or take..... if you aren't counting spending money on clothes, random crap, books, tuition..... it really just depends, ya know?
