changing awd ratio
i got a 99 audi a4 2.8 quattro and i'm about to go up to the mountains. I heard that there is a certain power ration between the front 2 and back 2 tires. I was wondering if i could change it....yeah sounds kinda dumb but i have no idea...my front two tires are basically bald and my back 2 look new and they were all new tires to begin with....Thanks for any help dudes!

You can replace your center diff with a STASiS one and that will change the ratio to 80% rear.
Your front tires are bald because Audi's have the worst weight distribution and your car understeers worse than a Scion tC. I suggest you learn how to compensate for that with better driving before you go rebuilding your drivetrain.

yes you can change the ratio. the stassis diff is one way. another way would be to put thicker washers in the center diff. manufan made them for somebody. the thicker the washers, the more torque to the rear. and like clx said, you should drive differently.

Hiwords is right on the mark - shimming the center diff can change the front/rear torque split on the car. Manufan made a set for a guy on the Zine so he could make a much-more-rear biased setup. I'm seriously tempted to look into that - I love the idea of, say, a 20/80 split
