It'll actually come squirting out of the entry and exit holes you punch through the sides of teh filter when you skewer it... Again, experience talking

yea, you'll get oil dripping out of the hole you puncture...you don't twist the screwdriver though, you wrench on it

jazz, that's a DAMN good point to think about if you use this technique, having the wrong filter after killing the old one would SUCK

so i would stab it in and then use a wrench on teh screwdriver to turn it? I should always use teh oil filter wrench and use this as a last resort?

no no, you use the screwdriver to twist the filter (when i said wrench i just mean torquing the driver, not actually using a wrench)....yes, this is a last resort, cause it is a little messier than the normal way, but it works very well (sometimes i won't even mess with a filter wrench, i'll just go at it the screwdriver)...here's what it looks like...

Yeah, the filter-ka-bob method should ALWAYS be used ONLY as a last resort!!! It kinda wrecks the filter, makes a mess, and prevents you from using any reasonable mewthods after stabbing your filter. Again, one last time before I shut down for the night, MAKE DAMN SURE YOU HAVE THE CORRECT REPLACEMENT FILTER BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS METHOD!!!!!!!!! Or, a way to get to the auto parts store should if you're rong.

I suppose that would have been fine, considering the filter was already cracked from the oil filter wrench. I did oil up the filter. My shop teacher told us about that same thing when he was demonstrating the oil change.
