Have you guys seen the new issue of Car and Driver w/ the shootout between the Mustang Shelby GT, 350Z, RX8, and the new 2.0T Audi TT???? OMG, what is wrong w/ those people???? The RX8 first??? Come on!! I haven't driven the new TT, but I have the other three. Well, the Mustang I drove was an '07 GT, but the Shelby is the same thing w/ appearance and very minor performance mods. That said, IMO, their finishing order was total crap. I would say 1. 350Z 2. Audi TT 3. Mustang GT 4. RX8
I know I'm prob the only one w/ that opinion, but hey....... what do you guys (and gals)think???

RX8s are suppose to be great cars, they're probably considering price to, although the new Ive heard the new TT is a great car, and i totally disagree with the mustang coming in 2nd. I really don't see the point of the Shelby GT

I said I'd put it 3rd. Car and Driver ranked it last, hahaha. I hate Mustangs, I just hate RX8's more.

 

Ya i wasn't trying to attack your position, and i think mustangs are sweet looking and have good acceleration and HP but totally lack in handling which is really to bad because i think they are sweet looking. Also the only problem with the RX8 is since it is a rotary engine, its slow off the line and has a mediocre 0-60 time, but once they hit like 70 or 80 they take off. That's why the 350z is kinda a better car, although the first couple years they were made they had serious issues with them but Nissan worked those out with the later models.

 

Ouch........ I can see where you're comin from, since the article was to find the best sports-coupe. To me, FWD is NOT allowed in a sports car, period. Not a true sports car, anyway.

 

See, I think the Z and RX8 overall are equal in design, but for $30,000 I can get a 306 hp 2 seater, or an anemic, psuedo "sport car" w/ 4 doors. Hmmmmm........... The RX8 is fun as hell to drive, I'll give it that, and it handles well. But it is overpriced, underpowered, and too unrefined. The Mustang on the other hand, is a brute and makes no apologies about it. And for that, I give it props. I just can't justify spending an extra $10K for the Shelby over a regular GT. IMO, I don't think the TT shouldv'e been included until they had 3.2 V6 Quattro model.

 

Lol i thought the new Shelby GT Mustanhg was like 500-600 horse power and was the most powerful mustang ever built.... or is there a difference between new Shelby GT mustangs and Shelby GT500 Mustangs? cause i knwo for a fact the GT500 is liek 5-600 HP.... and its dumb to compare a rare high horsepower car to those other ones.

 

Shelby GT and Shelby GT500 are different. Shelby GT is a 320hp "muscle-up" (gay) GT, and the GT500 is stand alone, 500hp supercharged 5.4l They are, however, the same in the sense that they both suck.[:'(]
