Not that long ago, Dec. 20th 2005

Alright, so today i got in my B6 A4 1.8T Q and was about to head home. When i turned on the car, my screen went all red and i wasnt able to turn it on/off and no functions worked but everything was lit up. When i turn off the car, the whole sound system unit stays lit up. I attempted this several times to try and reboot the system but it failed. I was going to take out the fuse and and try and reboot it that way but i was wondering if there might be something else wrong with it.

Didn't take long. posted in noobieville on 8/29/04 (Boy was I wordy......)
.
Hello, everyone. I spend months cruising the Volvo V70R forum, hoping to get a '98 - 2000 V70R. Then I decided that the V70R's were to complicated, so I then started checking into the T-5's. I couldn't find one in my price range that had reasonable mileage. I had actually started shoppong for (of all things) a nice used Mercury Sable S/W. Got my credit union approval on Thursday and started thumbing the ads and Auto Trader. Seems there was this Mitsubishi dealer that somehow ended up with a 2000 A6 Avant Quattro, and had trying to sell it for almost 2 months. 68,000 mi - all stock. Not perfect, but serviceable. He took about a $ 1,000 loss on it, and I took it home. Carfax says all is OK with the vehicle - no shunts, etc. One owner, leased vehicle.

(Maybe that leasee is on the forum? Dark blue; small dent behind Rt. 1/4 wheel opening)
I live in Orange, Calif.)

Anyway, now I have the very nice STATION WAGON I've been wanting for a long time. I'm still in a big learning curve - no owner's manual supplied. Ordered one from Audi publications today.

Problems:
1: Didn't read the gas door - put in regular, but it runs fine so far.
2: Rear windows don't operate on their own controls - only work from driver's position - window lock button doesn't change things (or is there some secret handshake type sequence for getting it to work?).
3: How do you change the time setting on the dash - or do I just wait for daylight savings time to end?
4: I need a new fron engine splash shield - one of the mounting areas is gone.

I'll fill you in on me later........

Oh, BTW - I'm in the auto insurance claims estimating business - have access to collision parts database for almost anything.

I just wanted to introduce myself, I'm new to the forums, new to Audis (thinking about a B5 S4) not so new to
cars & tuning.
I've logged on to other Audi forums - they may have a wealth of information - but this forum seemed really
easy to get the information - and had a more welcoming atmosphere to both Audi & Forum Noobs like me.
Thanks again !
pssh what a n00b [:-]
