business idea?
so i've been watching this "Fast Inc." show on MTV and then *BOOM* lightbulb, why don't i do what those guys do. for those of you who don't know, they find cars for people. they deal with the rich and famous finding rare cars, and also find cars for photoshoots etc. so i was thinking that since im centrally located between detroit and chicago i could maybe do this in my spare time. what do you guys think? i thought i'd just bounce it off the forum and let you guys be my devil's advocate.

I saw some of that show for the first time last night. I dont know what kind of premiums you can get when doing this, but it could be ok since people are asking for a specific car - they know they've gotta pay some premium for it. You need a large population to cater to(sounds like you got that) and people with plenty of money that are too lazy to go on autotrader.com

yeah i live almost directly between chicago and detroit so hopefully i would have enough people.. my biggest problem will be advertising cost. that kind of business needs a huge amount of advertising. also i'll most likely need a trailer/car hauler.

Lots of people are "car brokers".. Find a buyer who wants something specific, go to auctions find the car, buy it, sell it and make a proffit. Thats basically what you are talking about doing right?? Advertising helps, but physially getting out there and meeting people and physically telling people what it is you do is way more efficient than an add in the paper offering your services.
