Is a BOV ricey? (Poll)
#35
lol.....
the beauty of the whole thing is....we CAN each run whatever we want to in our own cars.even if some ppl think a particular thing is ricey, others might like it.
there are ALOT of things, i have seen people do to audi's that i would NEVAR do to MY car, but hey, if they like it....to each his own!

our cars already have a DV installed from the factory.
so if your concern is that you dont have one, rest easy, you do.
i think the biggest thing you should be concerned about, is what your goals are, powerwise etc. and budget, and how important sound is to you.
many people including myself use a 710n DV as a replacement for the weak factory DV, it costs about 55$ and is available at any audi dealer, just ask for the DV off a 225hp TT
other people use different types of DVs, some popular ones are baileys, forge, stratmosphere, ebay (up to you)....any of these work well with higher boost applications....chip etc.
if you dont have plans to make lots of power, id say go with a 710n
if you want to make more power, go with one of the higher end units.
as far as BOVs, i am not very familiar, but i hear lots of good things about turboxs, and greddy, among others.
if it is purely the sound you are going for, a BOV is louder, while a DV with a stock intake is almost impossible to hear, i have a short ram intake with my 710n, and you have no problem hearing my DV cycle...im sure that with a short ram intake and a BOV it would/could be very loud, especially since some BOVs are adjustable for sound.
Bottom Line.........
MOST people will say best setup is CAI/SRI/K&N, and Forge007, it really is up to you what YOU want to run.
it is YOUR car, do what you want/what works for you/your budget.
hope that helped.
