Hey guys...I was riding with a friend in his a4 1.8t and he started to get on it...and it felt good and started to pull and then all of a sudden it just quit pulling and the motor stopped revving.....he said it was boost cutoff.....he has an uprgraded turbo....Im just curious wtf that is??? I have no idea....and anyone with any suggestiuons...that would be great.

Umm, do u know what turbo and what software he running, and how much boost?

 

like a garrett 28rs or something....and as for software....I dont know....
Is that a bad thing that it stopped pulling like that?

 

well its denfinatly a not normal/desired function of a turbo

the turbo is probably a GT28RS...right?

hey...im still not sure what turbo he has...but I know he still has the stock exhaust manifold..and he only has a greddy boost controller

 

Well its not a 28rs then, unless he got his hand on something early from atp, which i doubt he did. Since he has a boost controller without the right software, the problem is obvisous. He is requesting to much boost, the engine/ecu is cannot suppy enough fuel to compensate. When theres a fuel shortage the motor will cut off, and he is prolly robbing hp cuz the ecu is pulling timing also.

 

its most likely limp mode, otherwsie rev limiter. Limp mode is bvasically a boost cutout but would be on dbw cars only (i think) 00 and up cars
