which BMW to get....?
i've been lookin alot lately at some BMWs, nd i think i wanna get some sort of E36, im now tryin to decide between a mid to late 90s 328is or a 318ti, both with a clutch, preferablly under 100k miles. prob wanna spend around 8gs max. wut do you guys think? thanks

lol probably the wrong place to get the best info, but deff go with the 328, same car bigger motor.... 328s are cool cars

DO NOT under any circumstance buy the 318ti. BMW hatchbacks are not a good idea. I hate to say it, but I would make fun of you for the rest of my days if you got the ti. SEriously, the ti is the bottom of the barrel. At that point, you might as well save four grand and buy a Civic, because that's what you would have. As a previous E39 M5 owner I can tell you that BMW drivers don't like to think about the fact that BMW actually made that thing (really, the A3 is cool, the 318ti is sooooooooo not cool).
328is, all the way, unless you're willing to spend a bit more. I have seen plenty of E36 M3s go for 12k. Little more money, but two or three times the car. My roommate would sell you his tomorrow for 12.5k, so if you look long and hard, you could probably find one for 10k.
Or (though I usually don't recommend this to people) for 8k you could get a really nice second generation RX-7 Turbo. A bit older, yes, but again, much more car.

Wow, I'm glad I stopped by this thread. I was thinking about getting a '96 318ti (need a *very* little cosmetic work) for about $4k, as a dialy driver/POS to abuse while I keep the mileage down on my Audi. It was either that or a '90-'91 CQ. You guys have convinced me to go with teh CQ. So, the REAL question NOW is: (off-)White, or Black?
