Check, that's truely impressive! Can understand how that happened......you should get together with your friend and make a video, so we could post it in a BMW forum!

 

In anycase, I'm glad I went with an Audi instead of a Beemer

 

SUV engines are geared lower and engines pull harder at low rpms (for towing 4 wheeling). That gives you a little advantage till about 50mph. After that, suv is hopelss. You will see that speedometer needle go up and the fuel needle go down just as fast. Diesel engines are great and can keep up with gas cousins up till 30 - 40 mph. I have 1.8 A4 and it is quick up till 60, then it is fast. Was able to keep up and pass Infinithy I35 at over 120mph. Turbo makes a huge difference.
It all comes down to what the car is intended for - towing or high speed driving.
