In your opinions what do you believe is the best modable engine that audi makes... Take into consideration the engine itself and what it's capable of instead of what it is now...

 

any A4 with 2.0t... right behind it is 1.8t for alot less $$ if we are talking about A4s.... if any audi then some V8
but to be realistic, u can take any car invest $30-50K in it and make it airplane ….

For the A4, a 97-99.5 1.8t is by far the most modable.

the best A4 might be said to be 1.8T - solidturbo base engine allows plenty of power to be gained.
Preferably manualand with quattro, the B5 models are also lighter than later A4's.

I'm definately not expert expert onS4'sbut Iguess they have more hp potential generally speaking-twin turbos. larger capacity engine, but also fair bit heavier, I heard this can make them not feel so nimble and chuckable,more like a sports tourer?- compared to A4. RS4 I'd love one of them but pricey, there's other expensive Audis aswell.

the good thing about the A4 is generally cheaper than other high performance Audis but with good foundation to build on, so can spend more $ customising and throwing moneyat personal mods. And get really involvedwith the car, not like a sexual thing though..

modded the most yet still reliable?
how far are you willing to go? turbo upgrades for sure but what about weight reduction, upgraded internals?

modder friendly is 97-99.5 due to the complete line of upgrades available - 99.5 being the most wanted due to its upgraded facelift but same motor. 02-05 are slowly catching up for available upgrades. v6 is out of the question since you can only supercharge it. stick with the 4 banger and take out a loan.

Guy in poland with the 8.99 in the s4 avant! By far i think the 2.7 was the best motor!
