Default Bartender Jobs

I'm looking to start bartending as a side job until I graduate. How original, huh? Anyway I have no experience and I do not want to enter into a place (restaurant) as a host/server/bus. Considering a two week course offered near my house. It's almost $400, but it will more than likely be a gift for the 21st. Just wondering if anybody has gone to a bartender school, or are most of them a waste of time?

Thanks

I've been working as a bartender on and off for about 5 years, I took the course, it was also around 400 bux and you do really learn a lot. Not only do you learn about the various spirits and liqueurs but how to properly mix them (mixology), and you learn about the equipment, how to hook it all up (co2 tanks, tappers etc.) Hope that helps..good luck

Thanks. That does help. I'm seriously considering it as a second job. I figure what's the worst that could happen? I'm out $400. It's not like I've never wasted $400 before.

do it. at a minimum, you're bound to impress some ladies with your knowledge of fruity bitch drinks, AND you could probably up the alcohol content w/o them tasting it, and I think you know where that leads.

I totally took that class back when I was in college; it was fun. I learned a lot of basic nifty stuff about mixing hooch, and I got an official-looking Degree in Mixology which I hung in my kitchen as a conversation piece. I also worked a few jobs as a bartender until I realized that I'm much better at drinking in bars than working in bars.

A lot of the people taking the class were just taking it to learn how to make drinks, not even planning on working as a bartender. It's a pretty cool time for sure, definitely worth the money.

Sexual assault? :P

Seriously though, not to be a parent or downer... because I don't think your comment was serious... but anybody who might take it seriously, getting a girl drunk and having sex with her is a no-no. Even if she begs for it, she can sober up, and you can be charged. Her consent is not recognized in court, if she gave it in an altered state of consciousness. Just lookin' out for you bastards. :P

Yeah, good warning. If you're gonna do it, make sure she's GOOD AND DRUNK, and be quick, so she doesn't sober up on you....

BTW, my disclaimer is that I'm joking, and headshok brings up a good point.
