I've been dreaming about the new S5 ever since I saw it at the local dealer two months ago. I think I want one. Unfortunately I just bought a new 2007 A4 2.0TQ MT6 not 6 months ago. That isn't a major influence in my decision however.

Has anyone driven the new S5 yet? Any impressions?

The S5 certainly looks awesome, and its been at my local Audi dealer for a good few months now, but in Australia its way too expensive for the average person.

Its $130,000 Australian dollars which is US$115,000. As far as i know, its around US$60k in the States, which means i could buy 2 of them for what i'm paying here.

Anyhow, something cheaper is the new B8 A4 which should be arriving within a few months. That looks a bit better than the A5 (although the A5 has some nicer curves on the side) and has the practicality of a traditional A4, albeit bigger.

 

im gana test drive one next week. my new dream car, i like the b8 a4...the new s5 looks way different if its park against on the street. saw one at the dealer but was in-loved when i saw someone driving it, the car not the driver.

 

I just love the look of the S5 and love the coupe style. The new B8 A4 is quite nice as well... just not as much my style as the coupe version. My next one will be an "S" model though. I just need a V8 again.

I dunno, guys... I might have to hold out for the new B8S4. According to AW, it's going to have a Bi-Turbo 3.0V6 S5 is better looking though, so I guess it's a question of V8 coupe vs. Bi-Turbo sedan.

 

I'll be trading my A4 for an S5 sometime late next year. The reason for not getting one sooner: I'm saving up for my wedding. BTW, I got a chance to drive a couple of laps in an S5 around Sears Point last week. Truly awesome car!
