It's a bummer that they decided that they could not help you, but the way you came across was that you wanted something for nothing. It does sound sort of like a bait-and-switch situation in the calls, but again, you came across, at least to me (and obviously to Audi) that you wanted a handout for your mistake. I've always noticed that any carmaker puts out a "base" version of a model (except for a brand new one), and follows it with the more option-laden version after a few months. This builds anticipation for the best of the best, and boosts sales.

I was never looking for "something for nothing". I only asked for "trade assistance" after she asked "what would make me a happy customer". I'm very familiar with trade assistance. All auto manufacturers have provisions to offer it and it's not uncommon. It would have cost them nothing whether I used it or not and would have been a classy gesture. [I] still would have been "out of pocket" if I used it....but it would have been my choice. I would not be telling this story if they hadn't called me and asked that question.
