Wow, where to begin?
Let's start with why the officer was there. It angers me when people try to use police to discipline their children. Clearly the child has some mental issues. Would I charge him? Ehh depends. Would I charge the parents? More likely than I would the kid. Best fix IMHO talk with the parents get the kid some help also have CPA (child protection agency) involved. Parents fail to follow through with getting the child help, charge the parents and then let CPA handle it. Was the officer in his right to take the kid somewhere? I'm going with yes, likely the officer/school tried to contact the parents with no response. Something needed to be done with this child as he could not be left at school. So really there are two options take him to Juvenile Detention or home. Likely no one was home so the child was taken to a place best for his safety.

I've heard that certain cop cars have radars on the front of the car, so if you're heading one direction, a cop heading the other direction can see that you're speeding, turn around, and pull you over. Are any cars equipped with this? I thought they could only get you with the gun. I live in Colorado, if that matters. Thanks!

Actually that's how most cars are set up. In my area departments that can only afford one or the other usually opt for the car set up. You can run it while sitting still or while moving. They also have car mounted set ups on swivels so it can shoot 360 degrees. Most are equipped with one in the front windshield and back some mount them up near the light bar.

Dash mounted radar

Here you can see a light bar mounted radar just to the left of the bar and a back window mounted radar 1/4 of the way down on the left hand side.

Here is a Colorado State Patrol car with what appears to be a dash mounted radar on the driver side.
