Anyone ride here?

RE: Anyone ride here?
Of course I ride. I would'nt start off on a lil R1. That bike is a serious contender and not for the beginner. I would start off on a 600 trust me there plenty fast and nimble as sh**. If your in the Jersey area and want to ride let me know i'll break the bike out and tear it up.
If you want to buy my 03 zx6r I'll part ways with it.

Skid,
I did some research and you are right, R1 is too serious for me. R6 is probably the best to go with. A couple of questions-
What are reasonable prices for a bike like an R6 or GSXR?
How much does your insurance cost for them? People told me the actual automotive insurance is not much but life insurance jumps? Is that right?
I am probably gonna try to get my act together for this coming spring because I gotta take classes and save a little money for this.
Thanks in advance.

The R6 is probably best. If buying new your looking at around $9000 out the door. If you buy used you can find an 03 for around 5-5.5G's. If it seems to cheap too you then it definately is. Most kids abuse there bikes and don't treat them kindly. Look for something in good condition. Make sure to check the bike out throughly before buying. Look at the tires to see if they need relacing. Normal street use for me is about 3000 miles or 1 track day out of a set a set can run anywhere form $250-$400 bucks. Also make sure to check out the chain and sprockets for slop in the chain and worn out sprockets. The chain should be fine if the bike has lower mileage but you never know. Most people don't adjust there chain and premature wear ocurs. So just check the bike over in general engine, laeks, etc. etc.
Insurance can range big time. With no collision I was paying $175 a year and with collision I was paying $875 a year. A friend of mine pays almost 2000 a year for his insurance, but he has a crap load of points.
My advice to you is when you get your liscence and start riding. Take the race school at your local track it costs about 300 bucks, but is well worth the money.

get the kawi 636...not the 2nd gen, but the 1st gen (i think 03-04), they're amazing bikes. i worked at a dealership for a while and i've ridden quite a few bikes, the 636 is definitely the best all-around bike you will ever find IMO. yamaha's have a very aggressive stance and if you plan to do any rides over an hour you're gonna be hurtin. gixxers are pretty good but they're pretty aggressive also. hondas are good beginner bikes but since nowadays everyone thinks they're a pro before they even sit on a bike, nobody really gets hondas anymore....when i started riding, your first bike was a ninja 250, and you developed your skills from there and went on to 600s or 750s...1000s are pretty much worthless unless you just like to drag race. on twists (which is by far the most fun riding imo) a 600 will smash on a 1000. they're much easier to throw around and still have PLENTY of power.
