so my housemate took a few rides in my car, and has decided that he wants to turbo his 2004 civic si (canadian spec). anyone know anything about these cars, as in what turbo kit would be good for him, etc? he asked me and i was dumbfounded... dont know much about these cars

to be honest, you'd probably be better off asking on a Honda forum. Expect to be flamed here as well... not a very good crowd to mention hondas to.

 

my friend did a custom kit on his 1998 civic put down 314whp on a dyno he runs 25psi and had to compleatly rebuild the motor 4 times been through a few different blocks the car is silly, it looks stock and its all beat up but the thing flys cant run much more than like 7 or 8 psi unless you want to upgrade the internals

honestly If i were him I woulnt bother, to much effort, time and money, just get a zex nos kit and do a 50 shot only take about 2 hours to install i dont think it would be worth it unless he is going to tear apart the motor only going to gain like 70-90hp with 6-8psi of boost anyway and it would cost like 4000 grand at least with all the parts and stand-alone software and it would be rather hard on the motor, plus im sure like anyone else he isnt going to to kind to the thing which only causes more problems

 

fwd honda's couldn't put down power without major mods like limited slip diff / quafe (sp) clutch etc. just tell him honda's suck

 

you said it's a 04 civic? what engine code does he have in it? If you can provide that i could probably find a kit for him. i know greddy makes a good one that would allow him to keep stock internals.

look on ebay, most are failry good, although on a stock block the turbo will safly only push maybe 7-8 psi. look into a supercharger.
