Almost killed myself

Last weekend for the holiday, we went down to Austria to board for a few days. On the second day (the only day I DIDNT have a little to much to drink) my friends and I were flying down a black run, and I saw a small trail that went up into the woods.
So off I go, my friends follow me, the trail was about 2 1/2 feet wide and shaped like a bowl with ALOT of jumps on it about 8 inches tall. I was doing about 20 mph, things were great!! Well, the last jump was bigger, and covered a 90 degree turn to the left, and right behind that was 3 trees. I was already in tthe air, so I dropped to try and catch the tree with my board and save my melon. Almost worked, but tree #2 caught me right across the chest, and knocked me into circles. When I finally stopped I had no air and couldnt breathe. My friend pushed me on my back, and that was all she wrote. Out like a light. When I woke up, I had no idea where I was or what happened. Ended up with a few cracked ribs and a partially busted ear drum from cracking my head off the ground. I am pretty sure that I am gonna stay away from trails that lead into the trees!!

I love skiing. I usually ski the run atleast once, paying attention to where everything is, before I start to go big on the jumps. Sounds like that's what you should have done. Glad to hear that you are ok, it could have been worse. [:@]

Yea trees sorta suck. Last time I went out to aspen I ran into pretty much the same problem as you, just minus the cracked ribs and ear drum part. Very bruised and scratched up... just a really bad experience. It's been a couple years so when I go back out there this weekend, I think me and that trail have a little catching up to do...

Thats where you and I are different. If you kick my a$$ once, I am not gonna mess with you again. The tree won fair and square, therefore I will keep my distance, it is the man!!

It wasn't the SAME TREE that got Sonny Bono, was it? I heard that particular tree has a downright HUNGER for human flesh... Next great horror movie? Maybe... Maybe...

Good to hear you are ok. Just count yourself lucky for being able to ski in Austria you lucky bastard!!!![Smile](https://www.audiforums.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Seriously though, get well soon. Tree runs are real fun but can be tricky if you are unfamiliar with the terrain or if the trees are too thick in cover.
