Absolutely Amazing Beauty of Math.....

"God created the integers, the rest is the work of man."
This is one view of mathematics. It is often debated whether or not math is a discovery or invention. Math seems very embedded in our physical reality, and at the same time very separate from it. You could study the abstract mathematical concepts like matrices, then use these concepts to describe the physical existence of an electron.

math (applied math) is probably the most important subject in the world. We need more mathematicians and less lawyers in this world.
"vorsprung durch technik" would mean nothing without math.
In fact i would not be typing on this computer if it were not for some math geniuses.

Anyone who has studied some computer science should know the name Alan Turing. He is the father of computers and famously proved that the halting problem is undecidable. This basically means that given any computer program and finite input to that program, there is no algorithm to decide whether or not the program will run forever or eventually stop.
It was one of the first formal problems to be proved unprovable, and was a serious blow to Hilbert's formalism.
Turing later admitted to a homosexual affair and lost his security clearance. He was given hormone treatment by the British government to "cure" him of his homosexuality. He died by eating a poison apple, a tribute to his favorite story Snow White.
Roger Penrose (one of the smartest people alive today) wrote a very good but somewhat technical book called The Emperors New Mind that deals with Turing machines and artificial intelligence. Its not a book for the faint of heart or mind, but it does a good job a reducing the seemingly unfathomable to its basic elements.
This tile design by Penrose posseses many amazing properties.
