yeah he's not banned. it was a joke cause of this whole "playa ordeal" you new guys probly dont know about. but its good to know it legal now. my friend came back from Hungary with 3 bottles this past summer. its a fun drink to say the least.

 

i've heard of people burning sugar, but the traditional way was to pour cold water over a sugar cube on a spoon. but this was done to mask the bitterness of the wormwood, not to hallucinate. the thujone in the wormwood is supposed to make to hallucinate. sugar won't affect it either way and most absinthe nowadays comes with sugar already so its not bitter

In 2007 the first legally available absinthe has been approved for sale in the US. These brands must pass TTB testing, which is performed by the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry method [59] and has a margin of error of 10ppm thujone [60]. Thus brands that are under the limit 'officially' don't contain thujone even if in actuality they do. Two brands currently available are Lucid and Kübler, with more to come.

Do you have to order the absinthe online or where do you buy it? Im sure daily grocery stores dont carry or do they?

 

right now you can only get it online, tho a few stores in NY and NJ have a thujone free absinthe. but i would expect that to change real soon
