The tickets are for

1 - Speeding 30-34 over limit (5 points in NJ)

2 - Failure to signal (which is COMPLETE BS... I always signal... even when I'm speeding )

the first ticket has mandatory court date but the second doesn't...

Edit:

I know for a fact (I googled it, asked other NYers, and asked the attorneys) that the points won't transfer to my NY license but I WILL have a record in NJ.

This is my first ticket so I have a squeaky clean record

When one ticket has a mandatory court date the tickets will be linked and you will address both in one hearing. Usually they will just attach the two tickets together and only worry about the greatest charge, so in effect that failure to signal ticket won't even be counted. This is how traffic courts operate in MD, many operate similarly. A mandatory court date means you should get an attorney.

I'm probably going to end up getting an attorney anyway but just wondering what would be your reasons to get an attorney?

Talking of Jail time, I thought in MD if you are driving 30 above the posted speed, you can get arrested....

Am I right...NAHO?

You "could" be forwreckless driving, but that isn't very likely. The only time we would make an arrest in that case is if the driver has a very bad reputation of not showing up for court or they are a complete *** to us.

Oh..Ok, I don't want to show up in any records in first place. In fact, I have realized that there is nothing fancy about speeding. There was a guy in BMW 7 series, racing for no reasons, cut me off at 495, and I can see him driving zig-zag making his way out all the way on I270, and when I took the exit 9, I was with him on the red light. I was thinking, why this guy has done all the hard work..and for what? He was speeding, driving bad, and all this while I was driving at 60-65 in my lane.
