I have owned an LS1 T/A, and I loved the power. A few light cheap mods(lid, cutout/CB) and the HP adds up incredibly quickly. You have to be an amazing driver to get an LS1 F-body into the high 12's stock. Most are low 13's stock. I had an Auto LS1, and It still moved like a bat out of hell.In terms of the crappy interior of F-bodys, they couldn't hold a candle to the A4/S4 interior. I had sooo many sqeaks and rattles inside the LS1, it was annoying to drive. Long story short, LS1 engines have great gas mileage on the highway, great power stock/respond very very well to simple mods, and look nice. That's about it. I would with no hesitation buy the S4.
As for 93-'97 LT1's being high 12 sec cars stock? LOL, try high 13's-low 14's stock..... There have been freak LT1's that have approached mid 13's but common.........

-P.S. bob123435945734........you are such a Douchebag.......

Sorry guys thats just my nature. I get called an ******* a lot. Something the military did to me.....nothing personal. Just because I said the 93+camaros were ugly didnt mean that I said they had the same engine. They are basically the same crappy body style. Lt1s were a claimed 300hp, not sure what they actually put down, but probably wasnt much more than that if any. LS1s are a claimed 325 I think, and they regularly put down 380-400 stock. The driveline loss in those cars is also not as bad as people think. Its like 17% from what Ive calculated, not sure if those are standards or autos though. I dont know if anyone has hit 12s with a stick.

if anything it would be done with a stick. manual is faster than auto.

as for the original thread topic, i would never get a camaro. interior, rwd, safety, and ride quality. none can compare to the audi. if you wanted a faster car that is cheaper to mod you would get the ss. if you wanted a premium vehicle that is still pretty damn fast, and ridiculously fast after modding, you would get the s4. but its a much more expensive route

Why does everyone, their mother, and their Nana (who, yes is a *****(see Beerfest)) want to shove a fu<king LS1 into anything with 4 wheels. It's G@dd@mn reddiculous, I've seen Ls1 Miata's, LS1 Skylines( I cried a bit), LS1 RX7's, LS1 Honda's, even an LS1 Mini van (not really), and LS1 everything else, OMG, stop with the whole, lets put some american Engine in another car and call it a day, If your gonna get an American Engine at least use a Hemi

I forgot LS1 e36 M3

The sticks are quicker? I generally thought that an automatic was because you cant shift faster than an auto. Unless I guess its a stock mushy one. Most everyone uses an auto for quick drag cars. But mine shifts super hard, and its built to lose less hp.

Well LS1s are amazing engines. A simple cam change and cleaning up the stock heads will net 500hp. The engines can be had cheap, and parts are reasonably priced. They also get good gas mileage. And they've been out for over 10 years, so theres a ton of knowledge on them. Why wouldnt you want to swap one? Unless you really hated american stuff........what reason do you have? As far as the old Hemis go, they are great for racing, but they dont provide the best street power. They make a lot of top end, but the bottom end is lacking. Im not familiar with the new ones.

Throw a turbo on a cammed LS1 and you have darn near 700hp depending on boost. Man someone shoulda told me that was a BAD thing!

Reliable power is a terrible thing to put in a car.

But, my opinion is worthless since I am only a "kid" and I only have 20 posts here. When can I be 25yrs old? 200 posts?300?

I don't hate American cars(Just don't like most of them), I'm just tired of seeing the LS1 shoved under every hood imaginable.

And your opinion does matter, the fact that your making it an issue just shows something.

And I guess you go down in age because with however many posts I have I'm only 18

I feel like you are getting off on the wrong foot. So lets start new

Hi, welcome to AF, what kind of Audi do you have and are there any pics of it so we can drool over how nice it is?

LMAO. its a really good lightweight engine tha has been proven over and over and over again. but IMO it should stay in a chevy

and stick's are quicker cause you can launch and shift it better, and you dont have a torque converter

Lol, well if it wasnt for opinions the world would be a boring place. Thanks for the welcome, I linked some pics to my car in the thread "just bought a crashed A4". Just waiting on a radiator to show up. Got it for 90 bucks! The car's exterior is in rough shape, needs paint, 140000 miles. But I absolutely love it, its going to be a nice change from my crew cab even with 70,000 miles.

Boy youve been doing a lot of work on here this past year.

My bad, pics are under the thread "deployed airbag". I forgot how easy it was to pull these front ends off.
