I think overall we (US) played well this year. We have came a long way and I'm excited about the future of soccer in the US. Seems like everyone caught on to the World Cup fever this year more than any other years.

Looking at the result, I was amazed how much England lost to Germany. 4-0?? Wow!

Brazil vs. Chile should be a good one tho.

A side note: I think the referees have been absolutely **** this World Cup. Lots of bad calls, missed calls, terrible.

We had two goals disallowed, and Argentina had a guy 10 feet offsides and they let it count. Interesting...

So, here's an interesting question. Replay... for it or against it?

I'm for it but how would it work? Unlike NORMAL sports... the clock keeps running

Yeah, unless they change the whole timing rule, replay wouldn't really work.

I like the fact that there is no replay. It breeds controversy, and good or bad, it give people something to talk about. I'm afraid if they went to replay, they would start using it to find the EXACT spot of the ball for free kicks/ set pieces (think, NFL) which really would slow things down. I like the fact that the ref points to a spot, and that's where the ball goes. On a throw in, players run up and down the sideline a good 20 feet or more from where the ball actually went out with no issue. It's all generalized. If it looks like you were the last one to touch the ball before it goes out, the other team gets it. If they bring in instant replay, where does it stop? We would have an extra 10 minutes of stoppage time after each half.

Let them play, sometimes you get the call, sometimes you don't. You move on, you get over it, you play harder.

Interesting fact: US had a winning goal disallowed vs Slovenia, then another goal against Algeria. End result: we still won the group, so overall, nothing was affected in the long run.

Argentina had a goal count that should have been an offsides. They won 3-1. Even if the goal didn't count, they still would have won. The final outcome didn't actually change.

The MLS tried to change the way they timed games to make it more "American" by having the clock run down, and the clock would stop on occassions. They found out quickly that it wouldn't work, and purist to the sport were appalled. To change the fundemantals of the game to allow for instant replay? It would be easier to convince the world that the Earth really is flat... not going to happen.

Super excited about the quarter finals!!! I hope the final will be Argentina vs Brazil. .
Even tho, there are tough games for both teams, Argentina vs Germany will be an interesting match, but Argentina will do it. Brazil Vs Netherlands, Holland has improved, but I don't think they'll beat the fury of Brazil, but it's Football, who knows....

Brazil vs. Argentina would make for an excellent Finals. I think that one would end up in a shoot out though...
