Okay... honestly, I think it's crazy that a lot of people would fault Obama on some of these things. Socialized healthcare is a GOOD thing people! Seriously! Profit-driven healthcare favours the wealthy, while those in lower-middle class often lose loved ones because they can't afford proper treatment. You're going to bitch about taxes going up, when it'll offer a better standard of healthcare for the majority of the American population?

Gay marriage: it's going to happen eventually... just get used to it. Gay/straight/bi... we're all human beings, so give it a bloody rest. What the hell does it mean to any of you if a gay couple get married? It doesn't affect you. Stop whining. People who are against gay marriage will be looked back on as fools 50 years from now. You're like the type who held on to their slaves until the very last minute... so damned sure in your way of thinking.

Making English the official language... I'd vote against that, too. What does it really do, other than send a very negative message towards America's stance on multiculturalism? Nadda. This is another thing that people in 50 years will look back on and really wonder... the world isn't homogeneous, and neither is your country. Don't cry about it! Instead, you should be proud of it. Maybe once people are more accepting of the value of each others respective culture, the country can grow towards something better than ever. Clinging to these homogeneous ideals for your country is pathetic... It's like you're idealizing a past that was in no way ideal compared to todays population. Unless you're going to argue that white is better?

I don't know. I was shocked that Bush made it for two terms... As a Canadian, I couldn't believe it... nobody that I knew could. McCain is the new (very old) Bush... I think Obama might move the country forward, while McCain will keep many of you clinging to a very outdated set of ideals.

Bogie, a lot of those "Yes/No" statements are completely off. Just to mention one, Obama has a plan to pull out of Iraq that would last several years, not immediately. Most of obama and mccains plans are very similar, go read their policies as you're giving a very one sided argument without listing all of the questionable things mccains done.

And it seems like all you care about are the gun laws...

Actually have you really thought about how much we pay in taxes already !!! State,Federal, sales, tax on gas, dmv, so on and so on........add that all up and look at the percentage you get jewed out of every dollar you make !!! Thats always their answer. Just raise taxes. Do you know what kind of reprocusions that would have on people......especially the lower class, come on think about that one really good !!!

English should be the offical language of the U.S., doesn't mean there still cant be multiculturalism !!! People can still speak other languages and even learn new ones if they want too, but look at it this way, would you mover to a forien country and refuse to learn their language and make them learn english if they wanted to talk to you. I would learn their language....plain and simple. Frances language is french, Mexicos language is spanish, Italys language is Italian, germans speak german........get the picture ???

The one ? I have to ask for all the Obama voters wanting Socialized Healthcare is this?
How do you make a living?
Is it:
1. Working under the table (includes illegal immigrants here).
2. Not declaring 90% or your tips (waitresses).
3. Selling drugs (not a pharmaceutical sales rep).
4. Long term welfare recipient and/or heavily assisted living on gov't programs.
5. Stupid easily influence college student with little or no part time income, big student loan, and probably won't remember to vote anyway.

I'll tell you what I think.
I think the people that work to legitimately earn their money and pay taxes deserve to have the better/best healthcare that they can afford.
I think the minimal amount possible should come out of our paychecks in taxes.
I don't want the gov't to redistribute my paycheck to pay for the "free" healthcare costs for some other leech on our society.
Yes, I'm selfish. I worked. I earned it. I want to keep it. I don't want the government to give my money away to someone who didn't work for it and doesn't deserve it, meanwhile taking out even more from my paycheck to pay for the salaries of the extra government employees that have a job of making sure my paycheck is shared equally with the rest of the nation.
Fu(k you, that's called SOCIALISM.

A free market economy in a true republic nation is what made the USA great.
The USA is the Greatest Free Nation in the World.
Let's keep it that way.

Whoa - what a difference a few hours make - what did I miss???

Bogie - love ya like a brother - but you're worked up too hard on this.

Honestly, both candidates have faults neither have all the answers. Who has them now? That's for we, the people, to decide.

You know my choice. Don't think I can dissuade yours any easier than you can mine. But this is what I can say.

Iraq is wrong. To say we never lose is bs. Korea was essentially a stalemate and Vietnam was a flat out failure.

The only righteous cause is Afghanistan. That's where Bin Laden is (or was) and we did right by the people there at first - then we went into Iraq.

Read your history, mate, no country "got" liberated - they did it themselves.

As for the issues you raise about Obama... some have some truth others far fetched lies or half-truths - which are surprisingly easy to do when you don't know much about a new candidate.

Here's a link on gun control for alot of candidates - http://www.ontheissues.org/Gun_Control.htm

you may find it says nothing of the claims you posted.

At this moment in time I personally feel either candidate could do a fine job. But honestly, I'm severely disappointed in McCain's tactics. I get this sense that he's too desperate to become President that anything goes for a man I wanted to win instead of Bush in 2000 (I still can't figure out how that happened).

But if you look at our economy, it's a precarious thing - truly. All it would take is a panic and the banks could fail overnight. America is not made of cast iron. It's a strong deck of cards. All empires rise and fall and America will do the same. It's a matter of historical fact - the answer lies in how complacent and bloated we become dictates the when and where the fall occurs.

We can argue these points over and over ad nauseum, mostly do to finding so called "fact based" websites that are truly biased ones instead feeding their interpretation to the masses and hey! there it is in writing - so it has to be true!

Not so. One of the pitfalls of the Internet. Anyone can be anything to everyone anywhere, anytime.

We have it good here. The British get their asses taxed off. Germans pay a 14% AVT (added value tax) on practically everything.

Honestly, I think we should abolish the IRS and adopt a 10% sales tax. I'd pay 10%.

That would mean, if I were me and bought a $50k Audi I'd pay $5k sales tax. If Bill Gates wants a $5.2 million boat - then he'll pay his $520k in tax for it and call it a deal.

This especially since no one pays fed income tax, btw.

Well my rant is done - I'm tired and have a HUGE day tomorrow - night mates!

Yet again, another great post by Palindari... And yes, both have pros and cons, but for the collective wallet of America, a more socialist mindset in a truly democratic government would be what is best for everyone... Inside and outside the US.

I'm for McCain and to call us racist based purely on our vote is one of the most ignorant statements I have heard/read in awhile and given my job, that's an accomplishment.
