I was wondering if European Plates are legal? I live in WI and see a few from time to time, but never knew if they were legal. If they are I could get some off a site with the exact lisence # as on my WI plates..

 

If your state requires a front license plate, then it's illegal not to have it on your car. Most of the time, no one will bother you about it, though, and the worst you are going to get is a fix it ticket ($25 here in MA) and it doesn't matter if it's the same numbers/letters as your own plate.

Most likely they are illegal. Then again, most of AFrs are not using the Euro plates on their cars, as they are still waiting after placing the orders at the group buy!.

Scam is legal here. Euro plates are not.

I've heard that most cops use Euro plates as a secondary offense, so you have to be pulled over for something else (ie speeding) before they will give you a ticket for it.

I'm not 100% on this.

 

Often, they will use it as an excuse to pull you over, then see what else they can get you for.

 

i did have a euro plate on my car and got pulled over for it. they didnt care that i displayed the euro plate but the lack of a front plate was some small fine and a moving violation. fought it in court saying i got in to a small accident and it fell off and havent gotten around to puting it back on again. it got droped. mass doesn't have fixit tickets

 

Yes, they do. I got a $25 ticket for my euro plate and when I went to the police station with my regular plate on and he dismissed it right there.

 

Yeah it's required to have a front lisence plat in WI..so I guess I'm outta luck.
