Default $5000 for a car!?

One of my good friends has been carless for 2 years now, he finally got his money right has 5gs for a new car he knows me and my friends have nice quick cars and he always tags along in one of ours and he wants to still tag along in his own
so what kind of car can he get for a bout $4g's and put about 1000 into it and we could do all the work to it...it has to keep up with our srt4s evos and such
is there a way to put a k04 in a legacy or an old wrx?
just any ideas you could give me would help so much

$5,000, that's pretty tough. I would look at some older model cars and throw money into them.

Maybe a 240Z and then turbo that sucker?

you can buy a nice new pile of s hit for 4-5000. I would tell him to keep saving his money to buy a car that he will be happy with.

Ahh.
Well if its his first car, then get a junker.
My audi is my first car. Bought for 750, put..maybe 1000 into it, tires, 3 oil changes etc.
Gets me places and dont need to worry about it.

Werd. I work ~25-30 hours per week, and I'm still only putting away $450-550 per month after putting gas into my car every week.
