Ive done basic work already. Brakes, oil, etc..

I wanted some ideas on which way i should go to achive such horse power.
Not that I want to spend this much but lets keep the budget under... 5k with respect that i will be doing some of the work myself.

Ideas, models of stuff, info...
Please and thank you...
According to your thread you would like to push this 1.8t into the 400hp range. I would like to ask you as to why? why not just upgrade to a s4 and you can go easy pass 400+ if you just go rs6 turbo and have a block built, but your budget is too low even if you do not choose the s4 route, also a automatic is going to become a money pit, think of this as a investment, wouldn't you rather do it on a car that is already designed for power like that, I mean a simple APR tune on stock s4 b5 will get you in the 310hp and over 380ft/lbs. My word of advice is save the cash, and buy an S4 you will much happier.

Yes because the only way to have a fast B5 is by owning an S4.

the 2.7t engines have their own problems, they are difficult to work on and require twice the amount of work/money to upgrade. Dont listen to getto301, go with an eliminator setup and you will be keeping up with most s4s

Thats what I was going to say but with 5 grand you can have a good start and build from there. Also if you have to replace a turbo you dont have to pull the motor

LOL i agree with having to pull the motor to do any work on the motor pretty much ....speaking from experiance...but the power that can be made effeciantly is far more of at easier then you can make with the 1.8t as just sheer displacment is allowed

I think there is a trade of between the 2 you can have 1 turbo at high boost or you can have 2 turbos at a lower boost either way its going to cost money. I prefer building up the 1.8T its cost alittle less to maintain. I also think that nowadays the word horsepower get tossed around to easily.

Well the only advantage with the S4 is the tq band, but as for peak hp the 1.8t can make just as much as a S4. I would still rather take a 1.8t over a S4 any day of the week, but I guess I am a little bias seeing that my A4 can actual run mid 10's.
