a4 bov question

Default a4 bov question

i did a quick search but couldnt find anything, for starters this is my first audi, i always had an eclipse gsx. now im wantin to put a bov on my audi, is it like a dsm where you have to use some kind of mass air translater and gm mas air? basiclly how do i put a bov on a audi a4 the right way.

Audi/VW have a closed loop turbo system. You would be better off using a diverter valve and recirculating the air back into the system. Forge makes a great DV. If you really want that BOV sound, Forge also makes a splitter valve that recirculates and has the BOV sound. Also, doing the intake mod will get you a better sound. There is DIY for installing DV on this site. https://www.audiforums.com/forum/diy-do-yourself-55/installing-servicing-your-forge-dv-bov-84020/ All you pretty much have to do swap out your stock DV with the new one. The old one also has a tendency to wear out and leak when you are beginning to push higher boost. After the DV, you should get a boost gauge installed and then get VAG-COM. Since this is your first Audi (congrats), learn all the little things about the car before you go and start doing major modifications. Don't be cheap with the gas, do all the maintenance, and read the forums...you'd be suprised what you can learn on here. Good luck brother.

theres no other way to put on a BOV on a 1.8t with out doing the DV/forgesplitter BS?
u cant just install the BOV straight to the turbo??(cuz my friend gave me his HKS SSQV blow off valve)

you could put the HKS bov on but please do not do that. the audi turbo system is designed as a closed loop system. that means there is a diverter valve that recirculates the excess boost built up during gear shifts or throttle let up. if you use a BOV and release 100% of the extra boost to the atmosphere you will cause problems for the MAF and the a/f will be messed up and other various problems. im not an expert but i had the same question. please do some reading on this forum and you will learn a lot.

Read the new owner and basic info stickies on the top of the B5 A4 subforum. These guys are right - using a blowoff will lead to rich spiking and eventual cligging of the thousand-dollar catalytic converter and failure of the $160 O2 sensors. The Forge splitter will eventually lead to this as well but it'll take longer since the valve is recirculating some of the charge air. You have to accept that this car is not a DSM and isn't designed or controlled the same way. Blowoffs aren't the route to go here - follow the advice and benefit from the expensive lessons learned in the past by other owners. Do the airbox mod with a high-flow filter, get a chip, and upgrade to a TT225 or aftermarket DV and you'll hear the turbo spool nicely but sneeze valves on a B5 lead to big costs for replacement parts.

yea i did read the sticky but i kept getting conflicting answer lol(since the 1 guy on the stickie has a HKS SSQV BV on his 98) thx i bought a 007 forge and im gonna install it today after i clear my corner lights. =)
