Hi all, I've got an A4 1.9tdi (1998/9) and the turbo has started making a high pitched 'whirring' noise when I accelerate. Interestingly, if i'm stationnary and in neutral gear when I rev the engine, there is no sound......anybody got any ideas???

Also, the fan has stopped working on my climate control - it would cut out intermittently and now does not work at all, although it is showing lit up on the display??

Any help would be much appreciated as I love my car but can't afford to take it in to an Audi dealer at the moment.....

Welcome to the forums... and if you didnt know thats what a turbo sounds like all the time... nothing to worry about

 

thanks for replying, badluckaudi, this noise has only started in the last couple of months and was never there before; it's as if a 'gasket' may be damaged or something like that......

might be a bad manifold gasket or you could have cracked a manifold
