Default Thinking about an A4...

Hello,

I am thinking about purchasing a Certiifed 2007 A41 with 29k miles on it.

I had a 2002 Jetta 1.8T, and I know the maintenance is a little more expensive than your normal Japanese vehicle (although Audi covers it up to 50k.. I assume that transfers to used ones too).

Also, a friend of mine had a 2001 A4 Quattro. He said at 60k he had to replace his timing belt, he had control arm issues in the front, and he also had differential seal issues. He basically said at 60k prepare to drop about $2k into the car in maintenance, and then about $1200 every 10k miles after that.

I really like the A4, but I drive about 20k miles a year (60 miles a day, highway commuting), and I'm wondering what other peoples' thoughts are on these vehicles. I currently have a Mazda6 that had mods, and I take very good care of my vehicle (oil changes, trans/brake/PS flushes, etc). However, will the A4 be a money pit?

I also am curious about reliablility experiences with these vehicles.

Thanks!
