oil light on frequently

oil light on frequently
I have a 2007 A4 and the oil (amber) light went on 3x in less than 11,000 miles. The dealer and service say that it is within mfg standards to consume one half qt every 600 mi. They did an oil consumption test and checked for leaks. Now they say I should run right in when it comes on to see how much it is down and if there is a leak they didn't find. Is this common? They keep saying that as long as it is within the standards, nothing is wrong with this happening. Should I scream lemon?

RE: oil light on frequently
U better ask that in a b7 forum. From what i know, first 10k miles or so (at least on a 1.8T) motor eats more oil, but than it slows down.
But 1qt/1200 miles is kinda lot. But who knows, make sure u check your oil level pretty often, and go to the dealer after you see that light again.
What light BTW? Low oil? Or low oil pressure?
