I hope this is the right forum for my first post. If not, appologies in advance, and I'll repost in the A6 forum if that's the right location.

Mywife tells me that we need a new (used) German car so her BMW can stay in the garage all winter when we can give the V6 Passat (FWD) to a daughter at college. I hope to upgrade to an A6 Quattro. 2003-2005 seems to be the price range we're in. Ignoring horsepower and torque differences, should I go with the 3.0 or the 2.7 turbo? We've had good luck with the two 2.8 VWs and I'm leaning towards the 3.0 thinking that the engine is almost the same. I read the advice for those looking at used 2.7 turbos, and it looks a little scary dealing with a turbo whose history is unknown. Any comments on my optionswould be appreciated.

I went with the 3.0 just because I didn't want the worry of the turbo engine.
