New Member::Non-Audi Owner
Hey I just wanna introduce myself
I'm Scott (hence my user name)
I'm 18
I currently drive a 2004 Velocity Red Mica Mazda RX-8
I have only rims and intake done. It's got red/black leather interior.
My oldest brother owned a 2002 TT for awhile before he got married.
I am going to college next year and may look to get like a 2004-2006 Audi A4 or A6. They are AWD, reliable, and better on gas.
I absolutely love my RX-8, its my first car.
However:
Cons:
-it gets bad gas mileage(EPA est. 18city and 23highway)
Some people say it will get more like 16mpg city I'm running about 13ish
I get roughly 140-150 miles per 11 gallons
-not much hp or Torque(232hp crank, roughly 180's whp)(roughly 160ft/lb)
-rear wheel drive(I live in Jersey, and may be going to school in PA need something better in snow)
-Engine Reliability
--Rotary Engine (Apex Seals go bad, Engine Flooding)
--Cannot sit for long periods of time (2 days or so without starting, it can but not healthy)
--Eats oil like a mother. (Some need oil weekly others roughly 1 qt per 2 fill ups of gas(300-400miles)
--Needs to warm up (has a hinder mode when its cold)
--If you turn it off cold, engine will flood(50/50 chance)
--Carbon Build Up on Rotors
-Value is ever dropping
Pros:
-Turns heads everywhere you go
-Engine is a legend (40 years of Rotary)
-50/50 weight distribution with FMR Layout(Drifting, Excellent handling)
---I've done 90 degree turns around 50 mph, car slide
-Comfortably can fit 4 full size people
-The engine at idle sounds like its not even running
-Redline begins at 8,500rpm but the fuel shut off **beeps** yes it actually has a buzzer to tell you fuel shut off with hit at 9,750rpm.
-6 speed gives a smooth ride
So as much as I love my car, when I go to college next year I really want a more reliable engine and car that can "take a beating without returning the favor"
If I don't get an Audi within the next year or tow, I am an enthusiast for life.

They "CAN" get good mileage if you baby it and you won't feel any power. But normal driving conditions having to speed up to pass and such, suck down gas like crazy. I mean it feels nice to redline daily.
