Hi all... I bought a 2000 audi a4 2 months ago.....I've come here regularly to see what you have to say about our rides and the problems they share. Mine is no exception. I got it on the cheap since it was just over warranty for miles. First problem.....super noisy on turns and over bumps...it was a metal banging noise....second problem....looked like an oil leak was getting worse....third problem....oil pump on the fritz. Solutions....the metal banging noise was due to the drivers side transmission mount being cracked in two causing the tranny to torque during acceleration and bounce up and down around turns and bumps. The oil leak was actually tranny gear oil that was escaping around the passenger side cv connection into tranny....possibly due to the tranny bouncing around. The loss of gear oil caused my audi to need a complete transmission rebuild. The dying oil pump caused oil pressure loss during stop and go traffic.

Now the good news.....I managed to find a competent trustworthy mechanic in my area that fixed everything plus is installing a new xtd stage three clutch plus molychrome 12 lb flywheel for $3200 parts included. Most people I speak to tell me how crappy my luck is and how i should sell my audi for something more reliable but I just laugh it off. Of course my wallet is extremely thin right now but hopefully now most of this cars issues have been resolved and I can truly enjoy a great machine for years to come.

I look forward to reading everyones posts!

i plan to keep upgrading in the future....but the tranny actually ended up getting damaged, reverse gear was gone and parts of third gear melted so it was kind of a must....plus the car needed a new clutch to begin with....the aftermarket combo was the same price as a stock setup from classic audi...no brainer there. any suggestions for mods in the future? I already put a k&n air intake in, next step a cat back system.

if its a 1.8T then put a GIAC chip in it. you also need to upgrade the dv to a froge 007 at the same time cuz the stock one cant handle the added boost. it costs bout 500 for the chip and 100 for the dv. it adds around 45hp and 75 tq. which is way more than an exhaust would add and it costs bout the same if not less. if you got a 2.8 than that really sux

o and a stage 3 clutch isn't always better than a stage 2 or 1. it depends on how much power your gona be running. and i haven't seen too many audi's that needed a stage 3 clutch.
