I bought a 2001 A4 1.8T with 125k for $5500 and was told I got a good deal. "Blue book" retail was $7500+ The thing has been nickiling and diming me ever since with this sensor going bad and that sensor going bad and a vacuum leak here etc.

I've seen a few out there for that 2-3K range but all have needed some work. I recently came over from the Subaru world as well and these are a lot different, just as many upgrades and the quattro system is comparable to Subarus AWD set-up but these are more complicated in general so be prepared for some extra work, expense and likely a few headaches along the way.

I'd also consider the 2.8L if you're just looking for a DD (similar to your Legacy), as long as these are maintained they will go for 300K like the Subarus. What you should be looking for depends on your goals for the car and budget will definitely play a part as these are about double the service costs of Subaru.
