Exclamation New Audi owner from Honda'a

Hello I just got a Audi A6 C5 body with the 2.7 Twin in it. I came from Honda's and went more luxury with speed and twin boost for snow trips because Honda's are not good for the snow. Proud new owner with mods to come on this beast. I work at a R&D place for Hybrid Vehicles and come from a heavy Mechanical background.

Mods to come definitely. This C5 has 91,234 miles on it for 8g. Timing belt done at 75,000. So nice that already happened.

So I know from working on turbo cars that I don't like the diverter valves that come to these engines, so new ones for sure. Probably APR or fair designed ones.

Are APR chips painfull to a car with this mileage?

Willkommen to the forums!

congrats on the purchase. I think you will be quite pleased when the snow starts to fall.

lots of good people and information to be found here. be sure to spend some time reading the stickies. the one at the top of the A6 section, about the 2.7T, I have found to be particularly useful.

if your car is still on the original DVs you are most likely due for new ones. A lot of folks seem to prefer the Forge 007. I have a "knock off" version of them in my car. a definite upgrade from the rubber diaphragm design of the OEM valves. the nice part is that they are "tunable" with a spring and washer kit. if you decide to go with the chip, it is easy to dial in the DV's performance to fit.

as far as the chip goes, it mainly depends on how you drive and what you are looking to get from the upgrade. the chip will net you some easy HP and TQ gains, but that extra HP and TQ is putting extra stress on the mechanicals. Your drivetrain is capable of handling this extra oomph but it does tend to accelerate wear. as long as you stay on top of the routine maintenance and aren't looking to push any OEM parts too terribly hard, chipping the car won't really give you any large headaches. I would recommend you hold off for a bit until you get a better feel for what the car already has to offer, and to see what types of repair/maintenance issues might pop up on their own. I keep thinking as soon as I get all the "little things" on my car taken care of, I will investigate getting chipped. it's been two years and I'm still taking care of all the "little things"

good luck

have fun

Those 007's have a good design ill check those out. Yea ill have a little "learning curve" for the euro spec cars. I already ordered some of the special torx of the MAC Tools truck for 50 bucks. Good for Mercedes too.

I'm for better MPG and a second program for Power. I was thinking APR since they have the capabilities to use 3 maps.
