I've been reading audiforums for a couple months, trying to get up to speed on the Audi 1.8T Quattro. My wife is 6 mo pregnant and I've decided that we need a safer car for her and my first child for the upcoming Buffalo winter. I stumbled across this:

2002 Audi A4 1.8T TURBO QUATTRO AWD Sedan AWD for $17,250

Wife likes the color, and I think I can get them down to $16,500 easily enough.

Problem is, they're about 5 hours away from me so if I decide to move forward, I'd need to buy sight-unseen. These guys tried to sell this car on ebay here but it ended last night below reserve. Their feedback looks great.

I called and asked if it's ever been in an accident - he said carfax shows the rear bumper has been painted. Should I be worried?

Does this look like a decent deal? The description doesn't show curtain airbags but when I asked he looked it up and said it looks as though curtain airbags were standard in '02.

$16+K is a big stretch for us, so I'm hoping you gents would be kind enough to offer some opinions. We don't need to get a new car soon. She's currently driving an '01 Honda civic that works great. Is this a good enough of a deal to fly down, buy w/o warranty, and drive 600 miles back home?

it is for adjusting the seat. post in the a4 section there is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy more traffic there. sometimes carfax reorts can be decieving. just make sure you get it checked out by an audi mechanic fist.
