my Audi wont start
Hi,
I bought an 1999 Audi A4 2.8 Quattro about two months ago. Everything was great on the car, ran smoothly and no weird sounds what so ever. Today I got in my car and it would not start, it tried but didnt make it. I had this happen to me before, but after waiting a bit the car finally started, unfortunately this was not the case today. After waiting several hours, I got back in and tried to start but this time all I could hear is the ignition trying to start, and the timing belt was moving, but the whole engine seemed not to respond. All the electronics work fine, but the engine does not seem to get fired up. I can also smell unburned gas. Does anybody have an idea what this could be?
Thanks

RE: my Audi wont start
hi, well lets stat by saying it could be a bunch of stuff, but if you smell gas it1s not the gas pump nor starter,so next would be spark....check coils and wires and sparkplugs
start by pulling number 1 plug wire out the motor take out sparkplug plug sparkplug in to the coil wire leaving it hooked up to coil pack....thats what i think your problum is,anyway do not touch any part of the plug ...best if you were a rubber glovewith plug in the coil wire have someone crank the car over see if your getting spark...you can also do this by putting plug close to a ground ....frame of car while being cranked, well if your not getting spark it still could be a copple of things but start with fuses then coil packs, they tend to go first
