Hi, I'm new here. Just got a 1999 Audi A6 to upgrade from my 2000 VW Passat after it was rear ended. It's the Avant Quattro with the same 2.8 L V6 as my Passat so I have plenty of spare parts handy and a friend who just rebuilt a Passat B5. I hadn't installed the valve cover gaskets or timing belt kit when the Passat was totaled, so we'll be putting those in the A6.

I can't believe the consignor accepted a bid of $400 for a car this fancy that starts and runs. I'm bracing myself for something nasty causing the "service inspection" message. But I have a parts car handy so I might as well pay less up front. The Passat passed a AAA inspection last May, but needed hella deferred maintenance anyhow. I flushed the radiator and it leaked when the previous owner's stop leak was gone.

It is so fancy inside!
