I need advice on upcoming purchase
I'm going to be purchasing an Audi in the next month or so. I've been researching and driving as many as I can and I'm having a hard time narrowing it down to one model. I've got a budget of $20K, a wife and three kids so I need space.
This is what I'm looking at and please give me your opinions:
2004 A6, 2.7T S-Line (30-55k miles) - fun car, engine is lively, decent space, heard negative things about turbo engine longevity (found some still under warranty)
2001-2003 A6, 4.2 (55-80k miles) - fun car, decent space, great styling (no warranty)
2001-2003 A8L (50-80k miles), big car, not much fun, very solid (no warranty)
2002 S6 Avant (60-90k miles), has the power and handling, extra space is great, actually fun to drive (no warranty)
2001 S8 (50-70k miles), great power, big car, lots of room, much more fun than the A8 (no warranty)
I actually came across a great deal on a 2001 A6 Avant (60k miles) but the 2.8 seemed a little weak.
Let me know what you'd suggest and why. Thanks for any help with this.

RE: Probably a can of worms, but what the hell
welcome to the forums !
id defenitely look into something that has lower miles & the warranty -
the a6 2.7T u listed looks good...
any plans on modding the car or just strictly a daily driver?

Since you have your wife and 3 kids, maybe the Avant will fit you better.
I know the 2.7T is a great engine and you probably won't be disappointed.
Good luck on your purchase and keep us updated.

If you're not planning mods, I'd go with the A6 4.2. It's a basic/solid V8 that's easy to maintain. Witha budget of 20K, there should be some '02's to '04'swithdecent miles.I like the S8's but they are a little too big for my tastes.

The 4.2 is a great engine...less to deal with then the 2.7 bi-turbo. I've had a 01 B5 S4 is was a fantastic engine with great power but more care is warranted. I currently own a 08 RS4 with the the hopped up 4.2 V8 and i couldn't be more happy.
Good Luck!
