Default Help and advice please

Hi, im new to this site and could really do with some advice.
I baught an audi a4 sline advant 1.8t automatic about 4 months ago. Iv had bmws, lexus and i love this car.
The problem is, sometimes the car does not want to change gear and can be iderling for a good few seconds until it does. Iv tried shifting the gears manualy and still no joy. This mostly happens from first to second gear. Otherwise the car drives mint. It has only done 66k and has full audi service history.
The abs light and eps light keeps coming on every now and again, i have had this diognosed and its just the switch under the brake pedel that is going to be replaced. The diognistics did not pick anything up about the gear box problem, could this be related?
I have been told it could just need a gearbox service @£300, but if does not cure it a new gear box. I dont want to be paying £2000 to get it sorted!!!!!!!!!!!
I have looked through the service history, and a problem that sounds simeler to mine, dont know if same, was ment to be repaird by AUDI main dealer. On the invoice it says; investigation into multitronic fault. Gears flash in dash display and vehicle looses power. Requires valve body. Replaced hydralic valve chest. It says they have replaced valve body, gasket and gear box oil.
This was done 22,000 miles ago in 24/06/09. Could this be covered in any audi warrenty?
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks
