Hello from Kalamazoo
Thanks for all the knowledge contained here. It's helped a lot!
How I got here:
I was driving a very reliable 10-year old Vibe, but I got the Audi bug earlier this year, and started looking for a slightly used (up to $25K) A4, or maybe a new Malibu or Ford Focus. (whaaaaa?!?!?) haha. After test driving a 2008 A4 the decision was made. THIS IS WHAT I WANT. (Anyone know that feeling?) I decided I didn't want to spend so much money, so I started looking for an older A4, and tried a 2002 A6, which opened my eyes again to an older model. After some searching I found just the car: right color (white), right interior (beige) in Indiana, just an hour away.
I love this car, even knowing that there are likely to be issues in my future with a car after 110K miles. The condition was so good though, I just jumped on it. I've never been a "car" person, despite growing up GM, even working at Oldsmobile office for a couple of summers.
So far, I've changed both headlight housings, repainted the hubcap center covers, painted over some worn center panel buttons, glued liners back to the frame, easy stuff.
Thanks, Joe
