Buy, or not to buy???
I am looking at buying a 2000 Audi A4 Quatrro 4-dr equipped with a 2.8 auto trip trans, with 52,700 miles on the dial. Its is a one owner car silver in color with black leather trim and I believe it is fully loaded from reading the original window sticker.
IMO, the interior is a 97 out of 100 points, while the exterior is a 90 out of 100 points. The main issues have to do with scuffed paint on ther rear dumper-street side, two dents below the door moldings on the street side rear passenger door, and a 3 inch scuff in the paint below the molding on the cirb side passenger door. All of which can be fixed.
The truck looks like the vehicle did just as it did the day it was sold and I believe the previous owner never opened it, not even once. The engine bay looks almost as good.
I have identified a Independent Repair Shop that I will have service the vehicle if the deal goes through, my choise. I asked about service and costs. Oil change every 5,000 miles, major every 30,000 - cost $350.00, and the big one at 90,000 miles, water pump and timing belt etc... - cost $850.00.
As for electronic, the read out in the dash is difficalt to read lines through it and I know that would be costly to have repaired at the dealer. As for the running gear a PPI will be performed tomorrow morning and the seller will repair the items found prior to sale, as well as interior items I want corrected if I buy (Interior diver door latch and a 3/4 inch cut in the material of the moon roof shade.
I've read the bad and good press about owning an audi, Audi dealers no way for service independents are the only way to go, I love it, I hate repair cost but love to drive it. and I would, or wouldn't buy again.
So, please give me the low down in YO ASAP. My wife and I really like the car. I will the answer to PPI tomorrow afternoon. If I say its a go tomorrow night the car will be ready by Thrusday. Should this car become part of the faimly it will very pampered.
Thanks,

Update
I am the proud owner of the Audi A4 Quattro I describe in my first posting. By the way, I had a PPI. Things I noticed in the short test drive that I was allowed to take told me there was either an engine mount issue, or an issue with the rear end (heard and felt a slit bump when coming to stops). A PPI revealed that I was correct, it needs new engine mounts, but it also revealed that upper control arm bushing were cracked, the electronic in dash read out display needs to be replaced (I picked up on that thanks to this website), both of the cam seals are weeping oil (not dripping down the side of the engine), and a couple of other common issues mentioned on this web site. I would like to thank turbo kraut for his input. I considered the 1.8 turbo, but for my application (mom and dad hwy cruiser and weekday warrior) I opted to go for reliability. However, I will be making a few moods (exhaust, chips for trip tonic trans and engine, cooling looking front and rear bumpers). I want to end up with a cool kraut sleeper.
