Default Audi Lease Problems - Trying to be a new owner

Well I decided between a few cars I was interested in and to lease the A5. Went to 2-3 dealerships and choose the one that I thought gave me the best pricing. Now I do not want to mention names as of yet because everything is still in process but I am very upset as to how everything is going right now...pls read and give any input

I applied with my wife and I on Tuesday, December 22nd 2009. I was told I would receive notification that day. I never got a reply from our salesman. I had to call and see what was going on! The situation was my wife has fairly new credit, I have no credit even though our income is there. I contacted them couple of days later and because of the Christmas holiday, was told to give them more time because there were trying to work the lease since I did not have strong credit. I contacted them again on Saturday December 26th and was informed that apparently my application was denied. They requested that I would need a strong co-signer and they would do the app under my wifes name. Fine...I provided information for a co-signed on Thursday, December 31st. I went to the dealership again on Saturday, January 2nd 2010 to settle everything and get a anwser and as soon as I met the salesman, he said he has the info for the co-signer but we would have to wait till monday because they cannot pull the co-signers credit information that was submitted via a online form because the "online manager" was no there and hes the only one who has access to it. The Co-signer actually faxed another application to the dealership which the salesman stated he received. I was told I would receive a decision later in the day. Again, I heard nothing back. I contacted the salesman who did not pick up his phone and then sent him a text msg. He replied via text message that he needs to speak with a "financial specialist" and would get back to me on Monday, January 4th 2010. Now I do not know if this is how Audi dealerships operate but this is very unprofessional.

I do not know if the dealership is waiting the time out so the 4th passes because the rates and no security deposit promotion is going ot be changing or what but I am fed up. I just want a anwser if they are going to approve it or not? I have a good salary, the co-signer owns his own business and have 4 diff cars operating for the business, I have a full time job and graduated 7 months ago from college so I should qualify for the college grade lease option from audi and my monthly payments estimated in the mid 600's would be less then 25% of my monthly income. I do not see why this is becoming a hassle.

Any thought as to whats going on? I can give the dealership benefit of the doubt that my wife and I are young so Audi is wanted another co-signer. That is why it took them 2-3 days to give me a answer the 1st time. Now I can give them benefit of the doubt that the co-signer info was received on the 31st, banks are closed on the 1st, and banks close early on Saturday jan2nd. i seriously expect a decision tomm. I would have gone to another dealership by now but I do not want my credit to be pulled multiple times and since I am asking someone to co-sign, do not want to keep asking that person to submit another app to another dealership

Any thoughts as to what is going on would be appreciated

What is going on most likely is that they cannot get you financed. Personally, I would not give you a loan, either. Maybe you forgot about this little thing called a recession? Possibly you might have also read about how businesses with great credit cannot secure loans?

You have only been at your job for seven months. You have no credit. You're a young man making a small salary and you want to buy an A5...a car with a sticker more than twice your earnings. Talk about your eyes being bigger than your wallet. Obviously you haven't been paying much attention, because this kind of reckless borrowing is what caused this financial meltdown.

It ain't rocket science, son. If you had an SAT score of 1000, would you get into Stanford or MIT?

Build your credit. Maybe in a year or so, you'll be doing well enough that you can buy a CPO A5. That would be seen as a more sensible purchase.

That is a bit harsh, IMO, but could be somewhat true. The dealership may have sold the last A5 they had that would keep your lease structure the same.

The last week of the year is typically very busy at dealerships and people seated in the store take priority over others, but you shouldn't have to wait so long to get word back. I know personally I would be tied up for 5 or 6 hours before I could do any follow-up.

If you feel you've been wronged contact the sales manager, general sales manager or the general manager and explain your situation you'll likely get an answer. The more level headed you are the more assistance you'll get.

That said, if you go off on the phone and they feel like the survey they'd get back from Audi, if they end up selling you car, would be horrible they may find an excuse to not sell. Sounds backwards but bad surveys are serious business.

Make a phone call or two to a manager and see what the deal is.
