Howdy all. I've got an '01 Avante 2.8 with the full sport package. I am told it is essentially an S4, but without motor. Love it. It's a fun car and my daily commuter.

Now the task at hand. What chip/eprom, intake and exhaust mods can get me some more oomph? I already have an K&N air filter.

 

Hey duganc, welcome to the forum. i woulnt say the 2.8 is essentially an s4 without the engine. The S4 has a differnet suspension, interior and exhaust. It shares the same chassis platform (B5).

Please do a search on what chip is good for your car. It's been beaten to death.

 

Jestnomen, I should have known better than to ask before looking. I say the same thing to others on another forum.

As far as my Avante, apparently it does have everything an S4 has except the motor. From the thumb shifters, the suspension, performance exhaust, 17" rims, seats, yadda yadda. At least that's what the dealer and told me. It was an Audi exec car from Auburn Hills MI that I got with 5k miles on it. A neighbor has a S4 Avante and with the exception of the exterior badging - and of course the motor - I can't see any differences.

If it really is that different, oh well, I'll just have to bring it up to spec. Hmm, Stage 1, Stage 2, supercharger...

 

very nice, you'll have to post some pics for us. Always like to see new members cars. Pretty much the only worth engine mod for the 30V 2.8 is the SC. I say go for it, then let me drive you car!

 

sorry bbut alot of the audi have thumb shifters and the like. the S4 has beefier axles stiffer suspension larger anti-roll bars. selectable Traction control. and some Kick *** prestige

 

It doesn't surprise me. Probably a sales gimmick from the dealer. None the less, it is still a great car. I just broke 50k miles yesterday so I am starting to think about trade in/sell to get my next (3rd) Audi. A full blown S would then be in play for me.

I love power, handling and speed. I get most of that out of my system by bringing my motorcycle to track days and draggin my knee. But alas, winter is approaching and my bike is up for the season. So when it's cold, the cage is the way to go.

I read reviews of the RS6, now that's my kind of fun. To dream....
