Another new Audi Convert
Hi everyone,
I just got myself a used 2008 A4 Quattro S Line, an Audi Certified (CPO).
It's Blue Pearl Effect w/Black Leather Interior, and has the 2.0T engine, w/a 6 spd m/t, and comes loaded w/the Titanium, Cold Weather, Premium, and Navigation w/iPod Interface Packages. From what I was told, it's a rare model due to it's having the Titanium Package.
After buying, and looking in the glove box I found a sheet of paper talking about the APR Performance ECU. Talking to the saleman, it appears that the previous owner had it installed. The previous owner so happens to work at the dealership, and I got to meet her, when this short gray haired woman came up to me and introduced herself as the previous owner. She told me that she had it regularly maintained, and also told me one other detail that wasn't told me, it has no Catalic Converter (CAT) installed. Checking, sure enough, it doesn't. When she had the APR software installed she was told that a few more HP could be gained from it's removal by one of the Audi mechanics there. She leased it, and when the leased expired, planned on buying it, she loved it so much, but was convinced to lease a new one.
I went and checked w/some people, about not having the CAT, if it would cause any damage(s) to the engine, and was told no, as long as it is using the software. It looks though like the dealer will have to reinstall a CAT in order to make it CPO legal. They had known about it, and thought that it had been replaced already, but it hadn't. The software was OK, but not the lack of a CAT.
The stock HP w/the 2.0T engine is suppose to be 200, and w/that APR Performance Software, 238, and w/o that CAT, they estimate it to be running about 250 HP. I never drove an A4 before, so it's performance surprised me, and I liked it, and so w/o knowing about the tweaks, I bought it. I had downgraded from a Porsche, so I was pleased w/the A4 performance.
I'm already looking, and if I can get a good price for it, I'm going to have a Stasis Exhaust system intalled. I also have a Neuspeed Short Shift Kit on order, which I hope to have installed this week.
I do plan to have it dyno'd, and had planned to have it done in stock form, had the CAT been installed. The APR Software has the capability to be turned off. I'll now wait until after the Stasis Exhaust installation.
I have some typical paint nicks to get fixed by the dealer, and I plan on having the 3M stone guard installed, as well as some window tint.
I've already joined the Audi Club North America.

I just had the Neuspeed Short Shifter installed today by Achtuning.com, as well as had H&R Wheel Spacers added to the wheels, 5 mm front and 12 mm in the rear. The wheels look great.
Boy that shifter is tight though. Is this normal until it breaks in?
I've got a Stasis Cat Back Exhaust on order. In order to get my Audi CPO Extended warranty, the catalytic converter has to be reinstalled. Since the dealer will be having to do this at their cost, I'm going to have my Stasis Exhaust installed at the same time, saving some money, labor cost wise. The Stasis Exhaust, if installed by the dealer, won't effect the Extended Warranty.
