I have an A4 avant estate, 66 plate and when I come up to a junction and slowing down without stopping I have tried to move off in 2nd gear and the engine has stalled and cut out. This has happened several times and has put me in the path of oncoming vehicles or confused cars behind me. This is a real safety issue and I wondered if there might be a fault in the engine cutting out. I had a VW passat 2 litre and its gearbox would allow this sort of manoeuvre.
Also I have now gone through 4 batteries on the key fob in one year ownership - this seems very unusual. What is the life expectancy of the batteries in keys?
