2002 tt 225..question on oil in turbo hoses
Hi,
I am interested in purchasing a 2002 TT quattro 225 hp from a local dealer. In the dealers' work orders, it states of a previous owner that complained of high engine oil consumption. The car has only 50,000 mi., (with no leaks on the engine) so I started asking around and found that if there is ANY oil residue in the outlet hose that goes from the turbo to the intercooler, that is an indication that the oil seal in the turbo is going bad and the car needs a new turbo. I pulled the outlet hose when I testdrovethe carand sure enough, there was a fair amount of oil there (enough to cover the tip of my finger several times). My question is.......can anyone out there give me some technical info. (hopefully from an Audi publication) stating that there should be NO oil residue at all in this hose? I have a familiar feeling that when I ask the dealer to pull this hose and we find oil in it, they will say "this is normal", because they dont want to replace the turbo. And I would like to show them that "this isNOT normal".I am planning to meet with the dealer tommorrow for this inspection.........any help ASAP would be appreciated! Thanks.
