1991 Audi 80 Series 5 Spd Manual PLEASE HELP!!!
Hello I'm new to the forum scene, never actually joined one before and I am in dire need of some assistance so i hope someone can help. I have a 1991 Audi 80 i love this car i bought it for dirt cheap from the original owner (little old lady) which is how i like to buy my cars, I am generally a Jeep, Pickup and Motorcycle guy but i have branched out to foreign cars. Any who, when I'm driving my 80 on the high way i feel like I'm not getting enough power out of my gears? it shifts smooth and its never slipped, but I will be going 60 on the freeway at about 3500 to 4000 if I'm going close to 70 is this normal? should i be concerned? I'm going to be moving soon and i don't want this to be an issue on my trip. Please Help! also i just replaced plugs wires ignition coil starter battery and distributer.

Your 80 is geared just like my 87 5000SQ. LOW.... Final drive ratio is 4:11. It's more for torque than speed. It's been a couple of years since I've driven my 5000 (I've got it disassembled rebuilding the suspension and engine) but I remember running about 60mph was almost 3000rpm. I never got the thing going more than 75-80 on the Interstate. Just remember, these cars were not built to go fast like a sports car. My 5000 is sa-LOW compared to just about everything except an old Beetle. LOL It get's great gas mileage though. 20mpg in town and I've gotten 30 or more on the Interstate.
If the gears are not slipping, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. My 5000 has over 278K miles on it and I've had it 17 years now. It's been a very very dependable ride, especially in the snow.

Also, in the future, don't post technical or help requests here in this section. Post them in the appropriate forum sections dedicated to your particular model or in the General Tech section. I rarely visit the Welcome section and neither do most others when looking for to help someone out with a technical issue.
