Just getting used to my "new" A8L. Traded a wonderful old BMW 740iL for it and hope to get the same service out of this one. Also hope to find some help here for any problems that might pop up. Thanks in advance.

Aloha,

First thing I did when I purchased my new Audi was sign up on the forum. I did so for my 94' Toyota Supra before I sold it. I traded in my Suzuki SX4 for this, and man what an upgrade it was. So what did I get?

The only Audi dealership on Oahu is Audi Hawaii. They have pre-configured vehicles that have packages so you just have to pick the one you want. I suppose I could have custom ordered one. So I bought an Audi A4 Quattro Premium, but it came with some thing. S Line Package, Phantom Black Pearl Effect, First Aid Kit and Anti-Theft Lug Nuts. Even know it was a new car I was able to talk them down $2,000. Got the extended warranty so I have 8 years / 100,000 miles. I couldn't pay for it in full so I got gap insurance and changed things accordingly.

Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. The cons would be that it's an Audi and Audi Quality. Too many good things to name! However, the cons are fewer, but still irritating. So I did not get the Navigation Package. It didn't come default with the car I was getting and couldn't add it in there since car was already built. I thought for the price I paid I would at least get a backup camera. Also not included, auxiliary ports or ability to stream music VIA Bluetooth. LAME. I think all of it was in the Navigation Package. I mean, really no auxiliary port? It's so basic. Anyway, I do have the iPod connector and pre-ordered the lighting connector one. The adapter that switches from 30-pin to lightning sucks because it keeps disconnecting from my phone when I shut the glove box. I guess I'm complaining, but in reality I love the car.

Only thing I did, and they offered there, was tint the windows. Darkest tint that is legal on all windows except front, I did the ceramic clear type of tint. Car is Black on Black so it does get hot. They said they could paint the wheels a glossy black. I was thinking about it, but didn't. Since they have a guy that does the backup camera installs I may do that. If I can get the whole navigation package installed, I would definitely do that. I know it would probably be super expensive, but yeah.

Mahalo!

Hi, new to the forum after a few years of 98 b5 a4 ownership. Just bought a c5 a6 avant for a ski rig, and figured it was time to dive into the forums.

Hello everyone. I recently bought an '01 TT and I'm looking to share in the wealth of knowledge on here as well as utilizing the forum as a resource for parts and mod suggestions, and even general problem diagnosis. Thanks to the admin for maintaining and moderating the site! I'm new to forums as a whole, so please pardon my lack of etiquette =-O

Default Hello .. I'm new on here!

My name's Rupert, I'm 64 and not yet an Audi owner/driver!

I retired four years ago from a career in medical/surgical sales & marketing. I've been married to Wendy for 37 years and we have a daughter who teaches music in a north London secondary school. We have two 8-year old black cats (Alfie and Bertie) whom we 'rescued' from a rehoming centre a year ago, following the death of our much loved female cat who was a couple of months short of her 23rd birthday.

My principal hobby is photography, but I occasionally add to my collection of diecast vehicles (mainly Matchbox). I've always maintained an interest in rock music, but I despair at much that passes for music these days! I occasionally noodle on my acoustic bass guitar, but I seem to be getting worse, not better! I've always loved cars and driving (I've been a member of the IAM since 2000) and I follow the F1 motor racing throughout the season, from the comfort of my armchair.

We are active members of our local U3A and like to get out and about on trips here, there and everywhere, as well as enjoying lunch out with friends most weeks.

That's about it really .. I shall enjoy dipping my toe in the water here and hope to gain an insight into what 'Audi-ism' is all about!

Welcome, Rupert. I look forward to seeing you interact with our rather shady group of potential Police Line-up regulars!

I, too, used to collect die casts. Mostly the 1:18th; mostly Bburago, a few Maisto, and a smattering of other miscellaneous marques. Then, my (now EX-, but at the time) wife let our then 1-, and 3-year old children play with my collection, so she could watch teh Telly in peace... Not the reason WHY we divorced, but, certainly a part of MY rationale. With every intentio of getting back into collection, some day, I have a few links to some online purveyors of some excessively fine die-cast cars, trucks, and motorcycles. I'll happily share, if you like, but I can't hit them until I get home. My proxy is down, at the moment, so I can't access my home network.

Have you decided which model Audi you're leaning towards, yet?

be sure and join in on the madness in the Off-Topic section, and if you have a facebook account, so do we (which I will also share, once I get home, because the heartless bastiges I work for block it , after lunch, for some stoopit reason).

Thank you for your kind welcome, Jazz.

I'm currently leaning towards the S3 Quattro Saloon, in the beautiful Sepang Blue that it was dressed in for the world launch at last April's Shanghai Auto Show. As 40K is my absolute limit, I'll have to go careful when loading the extras, but I'll definitely go for the supersports seats and the B&O audio system above all else! I may pursue my interest in this car with further questions, but I'll endeavour to use the correct part of the forum for those.

As for Twitter and Facebook, I'm afraid I'm rather old school. When I retired I was glad to put away my rather basic mobile phone, so it sits in the car for emergencies only these days. Our daughter does all the iPad, tablet, smartphone, FB thing, but it drives us mad when she comes to stay!

Thanks again for your warm welcome and, as I said, I shall look forward to interacting on here from time to time.
